CraveTO @ the Burroughes

First things first! Let me just say that "The Burroughes" is by far one of the best venue spaces in Toronto! This hidden gem on Queen Street is totally worth a trip! Look at that view of the Toronto skyline! It is named one of Toronto's top spot with a beautiful city view for a reason. If you have not checked this venue space out, I highly recommend it!

I believe the space was used as a furniture store in the past, so it has that industrial look/feel. Other than the rooftop view being amazingly beautiful, my other favourite part about this space is the exposed brick walls. Great space for a big event! This venue space deserves an A+++

CraveTO

If you have not heard of CraveTO before it is an event that showcases Toronto craft drink and street food creators to the soundtrack of Toronto DJ's.

This was my first year attending this event and I had a lot of fun. Tickets cost $15.00 (if you buy beforehand) or $20.00 (if you pay at the door). Then each vendor within the event sell their food and/or drinks for $7.00 or less. This was definitely a great night out and an event that I am not always used to. The variety of food choices and different drink choices were great! Very multicultural! The event was on the small side, but it was just perfect. I liked the fact that you were not overloaded with too many choices, it was a great amount for the venue space.

Overall I give my experience with CraveTO an A. :)

This was one of my guilty pleasures that evening. It is brown sugar and cinnamon coated dough with cream cheese drizzle inside. Can you say DELICIOUS?!? The dough is in a spiral, so it was easy to rip off pieces and enjoy :) It left our fingers sugary, so it was legitimately finger-licking good :)

I regret to inform you that I do not have this vendor's website link, but I suggest you check out CraveTO on Facebook.

Festival du Bacon (Bacon Festival) Review

Bacon is always worth a road trip :)

This year Quebec had it's first ever bacon festival! This was an entire festival dedicated to delicious bacon and all things bacon-related. Over the course of the weekend, numerous kiosks were serving up bacon in all its glorious forms, including chocolate-covered bacon, bacon gelato, bacon chips, bacon cocktails and they even had bacon toothpaste! Overall it was a good festival. I think since it was Quebec's first ever bacon festival it was quite on the small side. There was definitely a great variety, but you can never have too much bacon! I wish that there were more kiosks (there were about 10 kiosks in total). Hopefully by next year they can expand on their festival. I have to say as weird as it may sound the bacon gelato was definitely the highlight of the event! Definitely a different, but great experience! :) I rate this festival a B+ (I can never rate anything with bacon less than a B! :) )

I recommend that you check out the following companies:

1. Savoroso Cafe|Gelato; http://www.savoroso.com-I give their Gelato an A!

2. Chocolate Bacon Lover; http://www.ChocolateBaconLover.com-I give their chocolate-covered bacon a B+

3. Bar Brutus; http://www.barbrutus.com-I give their Bloody Brutus a B+ (not different from most Caesars)

4. La Boite A Grillades (food truck) Check them out on Facebook! :) -I give their bacon chips an A

If you are ever in Quebec and craving bacon, I highly suggest that you check out these places! :) Happy Eating!

Candied Bacon Recipe Review

This is for all the bacon lovers like me! :)

I found this recipe on the app called "Yummly." This app is great if you love to cook! This app provides a variety of different recipes. I highly recommend you downloading it on your phones! Did I mention that it is also free!?!? :)

The ingredients are as follows:

1. Bacon (as much as you want)-In this case I used 1/2 pound thick-sliced
2. 1/2 cup of brown sugar
3. 1/2 cup of chopped pecans
4. 1/4 teaspoon of ground cayenne pepper
5. 2 tablespoons of pure maple syrup

See full recipe in the link: http://www.garnishwithlemon.com/candied-bacon/

The combination of the spicy and sweetness was mouth watering! The cayenne pepper adds a kick to the bacon, just giving it a little bit more flavour. It was not spicy at all, if you are worried about that.  I got a little bit more creative with my bacon and created a checkered pattern. (This meant more bacon...mmmm...). I was really happy with the outcome and used the bacon to complete my BLT sandwich. I highly recommend this recipe! Some of the candied pecans did fall off the bacon because of its crispyness but the leftovers were great for a sweet snack. I give this recipe a A+++
